About Whisper Gathering:
The Whisper Gathering is a women’s retreat designed to equip women to be still enough to hear the still small voice of God and encourage them to obey in a lifelong walk of discipleship. The name comes from Elijah’s experience described in 1 Kings 19. When the Lord passed by, His voice was audible in the “sound of a gentle whisper.” (1 Kings 19:12)
Whisper weekends allow ample opportunities for powerful worship, in-depth Scripture lessons, small group team building, and opportunities to make deep connections with other women. They are usually held in a “camp-style” setting to allow both outdoor and indoor sessions. Fun activities include a “crafty” lesson designed to expand the weekend’s theme with hands-on learning, table choirs, nightly s’mores by the fire pit, and lots of laughter.
Perhaps the most notable difference between Whisper Gathering and other women’s retreats is the intentional emphasis on repentance of sin. Each day comes with a time of worship, Scripture teaching, examination of our own hearts in the light of God’s Word, and active repentance using a variety of innovative hands-on tools.
Many women describe the weekend as life-changing. See the feedback section for more information.

Don't worry. Whisper events are "portable." Yes, we can come to you. An age-appropriate adaptation of Whisper Gathering is available for youth as well. Feel free to contact Dr. Hollis for more information or to schedule an event.

Other Whisper Events:
The Whisper outreach began with a single weekend retreat. It has since expanded to include:
- Whisper Refresh, a half-day of Bible study, community-building, and fun every Spring.
- Whisper Connection began during the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic as a way to stay connected by weekday Zoom meetings. The 40-minute meetings include Bible study, facilitated discussion, and a live-it-out challenge.
- Whisper Sisters (anyone who has attended any Whisper event) meet quarterly for a time of refreshment and fun. We have a brief devotional and participate in an outreach project.

Dr. Hollis is a board-certified internal medicine specialist. After more than 30 years as a physician, she no longer maintains an active practice. Instead, she is a peer-to-peer funded missionary with Global Outreach International. After more than six years as Director of Intercessory Prayer and Outreach, she now limits her work to women's ministry, digital outreach, and outreach to high-risk teens and their parents. She is an author, blogger, artist, and retired elected official. She delights in farm animals, gluten-free living and, most of all, her amazing and supremely-talented son, Ryan.
